Mobile RV Repair in Taylor — Serving the SH-79 Corridor and Williamson County East

Taylor has changed quickly over the past few years. The Samsung semiconductor corridor along SH-130 and the residential growth pushing out from Hutto along SH-79 and FM-973 have brought a significant number of new households into the area — and with them, a new wave of RV buyers. These tend to be first-time or newer RV owners who bought a travel trailer or fifth wheel in the past one to three years and are still learning which systems need regular attention. They call when something does not work, but they do not always know what to look for before it stops working. Pre-trip maintenance visits that include a systems walkthrough and written summary are a common request from this audience.

Alongside newer owners, Taylor also has a substantial base of older travel trailers — coaches that have been owned for five to ten years, stored in driveways or small lots along the SH-79 and FM-973 corridors, and used for regular weekend camping within a two-hour drive of Taylor. Bastrop State Park, Lake Granger, and the Colorado River parks east of Austin are common destinations. These older trailers develop consistent wear patterns: water heater thermocouple or DSI igniter failures from years of cycling, roof sealant that has hardened and pulled away from vent and skylight flanges, refrigerator control boards that finally fail after a summer of heat-cycling in a closed trailer. Most of these repairs complete in a single visit.

We see a distinct storm-response pattern from Taylor as well. Williamson County east of SH-130 gets regular spring thunderstorm activity, and coaches stored outdoors that take a hailstorm will often show roof membrane impact damage, cracked vent covers, and sealant that has been knocked loose at penetration flanges. We document the pre-repair condition with photography, complete any protective measures needed, and provide written findings that support an insurance claim or simply tell the owner what was damaged and what needs to be replaced. We cover Taylor and the surrounding communities including Hutto east, Circleville, Thorndale, and the rural properties along FM-973 and FM-1331.

Common RV Problems in Taylor

  • Water Heater Ignition Failure on Older Travel Trailers

Thermocouples, DSI igniters, and gas valve solenoids wear out on high-cycle schedules. Taylor's older trailer inventory produces consistent water heater ignition calls — most resolve on the first visit with parts carried on the van.

  • Roof Sealant Fatigue at Vent and Skylight Flanges

Trailers that have been through five or more Central Texas summers without a sealant inspection develop cracked, hardened beads at vent flanges and skylight bases — the number-one entry point for slow overhead leaks.

  • Refrigerator Control Board Failure From Summer Heat

A travel trailer sealed in storage all summer can reach 140°F+ inside. Refrigerator control boards degrade under that sustained heat and fail when the owner returns in fall. We carry common control board and thermistor components.

  • Roof Membrane and Vent Cover Damage From Hailstorms

Williamson County east of SH-130 takes regular spring hailstorms. Roof membrane impact damage, cracked vent covers, and sealant knocked loose at penetration flanges are the most common post-storm findings.

  • Battery Bank Discharge and Converter Overload

First-time and newer owners in Taylor frequently arrive at a campground to find the battery bank is flat after not being maintained between trips. A discharged battery bank can also pull a converter into a failed state.

  • Unfamiliar System Failures on Recently Purchased RVs

Newer Taylor RV owners who bought in the past one to three years often call when a system fails without knowing the history of the coach. A walk-through service call documents the baseline condition of every system.

Where We Perform Mobile RV Service in Taylor

  • Residential Driveways and Side Lots

Travel trailers and fifth wheels stored at homes along SH-79 and FM-973 corridors are serviced in place on the property.

  • SH-79 and FM-973 Storage Facilities

Taylor's small storage lots along the main corridors are standard service call locations. We come to the lot and work on the RV at its stored position.

  • New-Owner Walk-Through Visits

For recently purchased coaches, we come to the new owner's location and document the full system condition — a baseline that guides all future service decisions.

  • Post-Storm Damage Assessment

Following a spring hailstorm, we come to the coach's stored location for pre-repair documentation and protective measures before the owner files an insurance claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just bought my first RV and I am not sure what needs to be maintained. Can you help?
Yes. A new-owner walk-through is one of the most useful service calls we do. We go through the coach with you, explain each system, document the current condition of the roof sealant, AC, water heater, battery, and plumbing, and flag anything that needs attention before your first trip. You leave with a written summary and a baseline for future service visits. Call 512-675-3887 or schedule at bossbullrv.com/service-calendar.
My RV water heater is not igniting. What should I check first?
On a propane-fired water heater with a pilot light, the most common culprits are a fouled pilot orifice, a failed thermocouple, or a gas valve that has stuck closed. On DSI (direct spark ignition) units — Suburban and Atwood heaters found on most production travel trailers from the past 15 years — the igniter assembly or gas valve solenoid are the most common failure points. If the unit attempts to light (you hear a click and smell gas briefly) but does not sustain a flame, the thermocouple is usually the cause. If there is no attempt at all, the igniter or control board is the more likely fault. See our water heater repair page for a full overview of what the service visit covers.
My travel trailer roof has what looks like hail damage from a recent storm. What do I do?
Photograph the damage now, before anything dries or shifts, and call your insurance company to open a claim if the damage is significant. Then call us at 512-675-3887. We can come to your Taylor location, document the full pre-repair condition with written findings and photographs, complete any immediate protective measures, and provide documentation that supports the insurance claim scope. Hail damage on an RV roof often includes cracked vent covers, AC shroud damage, and sealant that has been impacted at penetration flanges — all of which we assess and repair as part of the service visit.
My RV refrigerator stopped cooling after sitting in a hot storage unit all summer. Is that fixable on-site?
Often yes. An absorption refrigerator that sat in a hot, sealed trailer all summer may have a control board that failed from sustained heat, a thermistor that drifted out of spec, or a gas valve solenoid that stuck. A residential-style compressor refrigerator is more resilient to heat but can still lose a start relay or capacitor. We carry diagnostic equipment and common refrigerator electrical parts. After diagnosis, most control-board and electrical component replacements are same-visit. See our RV refrigerator repair page for more on what that service involves.
Do you service older travel trailers in Taylor, not just newer rigs?
Yes. Older travel trailers make up a significant portion of the work we do in the Taylor and eastern Williamson County area. Age adds predictable wear patterns — anode rods, thermocouples, capacitors, sealant — but it does not change the mobile service model. We come to the trailer where it is stored and work on it in place, regardless of brand or year. If a part for an older unit needs to be sourced, we advise on lead time before the service visit.
Can you come to a campsite at Lake Granger or Bastrop State Park if something breaks on a trip?
Lake Granger and Bastrop-area campgrounds are within or near the outer edge of our service range. Call 512-675-3887 first to confirm availability for the specific date and location — a remote campground call may require confirming our schedule and may incur a trip charge. For critical failures (no water, no heat, complete AC failure in summer), we prioritize getting there as quickly as scheduling allows.
